OOOOhhhhhh Scary!!! It's one of those "I just hit puberty and this guitar will be such a help in my messing with my parents' head with my dead obsession thing and make me the coolest zombie-wannabe at my middle school at the same time...where's my black nail varnish?..." Epiphone. Get a clue. Stop pandering to adolescents with this nonsense, to fan boys with endless endorsed guitars, and to vintage guitar owner wannabes with "inspired by" crap that possess just enough minutiae to sell at ridiculously inflated prices what are otherwise stock Chinese models (the "upgrades" you tout should be there in the first place) and bring to market some straight forward guitars (preferably made somewhere besides China because they're really only good at making things that appear as if they possess quality) from quality components. You can even continue making the traditional Epiphone models and Gibson knock-offs but make them with something tangible and inherent within them and not the smoke and mirrors that draw people in with an apparent vintage vibe only to have that facade dissolve with any close scrutiny. No amount of marketing/sales spiel visits from Epi1 is going to change what Epiphone owners all eventually discover...they look a lot better from the outside than they actually are on the inside. You made some great guitars in Korea...China? Not so much. Sorry to rant but I see this crap from Epiphone as they bumble along looking for somewhere to get market share while holding their margin and the stuff they come up with makes me cringe. Larens

Larens I have 4 Epis. An SG Jr. from Indonesia, an LP from Korea, and an SG G400 and a Dot from China (QingDao). The two from China are much better built guitars. So I don't think you are correct at all in making your claim about China. The Qing Dao factory is putting out some of the nicest looking, and best built guitars that Epiphone has ever made outside this country.

Well, then I am pleased for you and your satisfaction with those products but we all have differing perceptions of quality and thresholds of satisfaction and I have yet to see anything from China I'd even let follow me home and there seems to be more than a few people on this forum who don't happen to share your complete contentment. But...as long as you personally are pleased, that's all that matters. Larens

Larens ... nobody likes a gear snob! If you don't like 'em ... don't buy 'em. Voting with your wallet is the most effective way of letting any company know when they are straying off the path ... Same goes for all of this whacky Zakk Wylde crap. Epiphone can build whatever they want. I've never seen any of this stuff in person at a music store, so I have a feeling they are just testing the waters with a very limited production run for sale by the on-line dealers. They are making plenty of the classic stuff too: '59 LP's, 60's Tribute LP's, JL Inspired Casinos, Emperor Swingsters, etc, etc, etc ... In fact, besides Fender (just about everything they build is based on a 50+ year old design!), no one is building more "classics" that Gibson/Epiphone. Everyone wants more quality, more this and more that ... and then pisses and moans about the price! Jim

Epiphone. Get a clue. Stop pandering to adolescents with this nonsense, to fan boys with endless endorsed guitars...Larens I think that maybe Epiphone has to bend over backward to please some of these primadonna endorsers, or else they might jump ship and go elsewhere. Here is a good example: 2004 MIK (Saein) Epi '56 Goldtop Les Paul (2 DiMarzio "Virtual P-90's"), with Bigsby B5 vibrato; Gretsch Electromatic G5120 125th Anniversary Edition; Simon & Patrick Woodland Cedar 6 acoustic with Dean Markley ProMag Grand soundhole acoustic pickup; Epi Valve Standard tube amp (15 watt); Vox AD50VT 2-12 Valvetronix amp (50 watts) with 2 Celestion G-12 Hot-100 speakers; Boss ME-50 multiple FX unit, Dunlop Crybaby wah, MXR Carbon Copy Analog Delay, Boss GE-7 equalizer, Boss DR-5 Dr. Rhythm Section

I hope that's a fake pic of slash. as for the graveyard desciple.... the SG-V thing was hideous enough... now they build him a coffin shaped guitar? He's a grown-ass man playing ridiculous guitars. I guess some just dont grow up... I'm really surprised zakk doesn't play those trailer-home shaped guitars epiphone made a while back... ya might be a redneck if...... if he wasn't a great guitar player this would all be a bit tooooo ridiculous. I guess coffins are pretty 'metal. I wonder if he puts his in a coffin case! So many Les Pauls to play, so very little time to play them...

I think that Z-1 Acoustic is pretty sweet. I just dont know why they had to attach Zakk's name to it and ruin it with that ridiculous buzzsaw graphic. I would think that guitar could speak for itself.

Hideous. And yet...similar shapes have appeared less revolting in their execution:

So....all of Zakk's "designs" are just rip-offs from Dean and Schecter? I wonder who he steals his riffage from... ziiiiiing!

I have a Schecter C1 Classic that is an incredible guitar. Set up very well, with SD P'up, Jazz up front, JB in back, and the ability to coil tap. I had it set up and the frets dressed, and it is the best guitar I have ever played hands down. I don't necessarily think the country of origin is always an indication of the quality of instrument.
