FedEx showed up around 2:30 today. Unpacked, plugged in and all worked. Couldn't get to it for a couple of hours but just spent some time with my Gibby LP and Mr. Sr. Woohoo!! It also takes pedals very well from what I've tried so far. I think I'm liking this a lot. As Brian's videos pointed out, the reverb pretty much sucks, but otherwise, I'm a happy camper. Dennis

Nice, with Rob and Dennis, that makes three of us. I've also had some replies on Youtube from folks who got theirs this week, so it looks like VSrs are finally shipping in force.

Hey Brian, thanks for posting this stuff. Lots of guys have been waiting impatiently for this amp for a LONG, LONG time, so it's good that you took the time to post clips and porn shots.
Sounds to me as though it's got the trademark Vjr mush going at higher levels, but it shouldn't be hard at all to tweak that out. Knowing how they screwed up the bias on the Vjr, I'd guess that's a big part of it.
Ruby Tubes makes some decent replacement reverb tanks, btw, although personally, I'd have no use for it anyway.
Overall, it seems as though it's got potential. I have to admit, I'd pretty much written this amp off entirely, so it's good to see that it's finally become real. It looks nice sitting on the cabinet!

Thanks M - I'm still not sure if it was worth the wait or all the hype, but for now I'm keeping it. It's a far more flexible head than the VJr, seems to have more substantial iron, and I expect will be a great platform for mods. Please feel free to link these posts over at Sewatt, I'm anxious to see what kinds of improvements the board-level guys come up with. If Epi had come out with this last year as planned, there would probably already be several BillM-type web sites all over this thing. BTW, the stock tank is the short-spring Ruby Tubes EB2C1B. The long-spring version sounds much better, but it's standard Fender dimensions (17") and won't fit.  Cheers, Brian

Cheers, Brian In case you didn't get that pm i sent you, i'd suggest replacing that ruby tank (looks like a cheapened version of the accutronics type 1) with an accutronics type 8 reverb tank. The type 8 has a 3rd spring, and sounds closer to the 17" two spring "type 4" reverb tanks (the "fender" one that you've got. Well...a bit of sleep definitely helps..I found some mistakes in the phase splitter part of the draft schematic...and power supply..and..? :) Re Reverb - you can do a lot just by changing the resistance over the reverb pot..but yeah, the tank does kinda blow ;) anyway..here is a link to the updated schematic..  which hopefully makes a bit more sense.. :) cya -jd

I got my Senior Friday. I have been playing it all weekend long. I gig a Mojo Marshall 18 watt clone I built.
I must say, This Valve Senior is very good for the $$.
I agree, The reverb is unusable.
I like the fact that this amp enables you to mix between the gain and Master. I am finding many different tonal options.
I cannot wait to see what kind of mods pop up. But, I am fine with the way it sounds, as is.

Got mine on the 29th. Thanks brian for the videos, they kept me excited while the amp was en route.
My thoughts of it so far are:
* NIIICE!
* Reverb is yeehawe, sounds like someone hitting on a spring everytime you attack, and very muffled. Boing!
* Excellent versatility and volume. Except if you want it really clean it won't be loud enough for gigging alone.
* It's got some 60(50 here) cycle hum, probably from bad grounding. (3 different points to the chassie of I didn't miss one.)
* Minor thing, I didn't expect it to be that off-white.
Sooo.. First things to be "taken care of" will be fixing grounding/hum problems and reworking the whole reverb circuit.
I might even add an extra tube to make it into more of a Fender Deluxe/Twin reverb.
Great work on the schematic jaydodge, I will "proof-read" and confirm it in the next few days!

Didn't pay much attention to the solder work, but I should have. Next time I take it apart (to upgrade the rvrb & install new caps) I'll post some pics. I think you'll like it, post some pics and/or vids when you get it.

the solder is that high temp crap that requires you to add lots of normal solder to get the stupid stuff to flow properly...yes i am bitter lol :)
a few of the connectors have broken off whilst i've been working on it..putting it in and out of the chassis.. i'd at least check those closely.

My bass player plays some guitar on a few songs for the band and needed a guitar amp. She decided to buy the Valve Senior on my recommendation, and then after ordering it she decides (like a Woman) that she really wanted the combo version of the amp, so I told her to call sweetwater and have the order canceled and changed. Well, she decided that that was too much work so she asked if I would be interested in trading my Crate Palomino V16 for the Valve Senior. Since I haven't used this amp in a while I said yes. Well long story too late she gets the amp last Friday, but wants to try both to see which she really wants. I got a call 2 days ago that it's the Palomino for her, and I get the head to MOD! Anyway band practice this Friday I will have it and review to come shortly after...
